About Me
School has always been challenging for me. Despite its difficulty, I am proud to share I have earned three Bachelors’ Degrees and a Master’s Degree. I received my first Bachelor’s Degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in Clothing & Textiles. After graduating in 1999, I spent the next five years working in retail management, first for Wal-mart followed by Von Maur. Once I decided that retail was not a good “fit” for me, I started substitute teaching. After substituting with K-2 special education students for a week, I made the choice to go back to school at Western Illinois University in Macomb, where I pursued dual degrees in Special Education and Elementary Education. I found and still find gratification in seeing students take small steps in growing academically. The additional four years that I was in college at Western, I also worked in Morgan Hall for University Technology as a Digital Operation’s Assistant. In 2008, I was elected as Western’s Student Employee of the Year. Then, in 2009 I was nominated to be a marshal at graduation. Following graduation, I began teaching in Havana and, in 2011, I obtained my Master of Science in Education: Educational & Interdisciplinary Studies. I am delighted for this to be my tenth year devoted to working for H.C.U.S.D. #126 as a Learning Behavior Specialist. Some things I enjoy are: traveling, shopping for clothes and accessories, decorating, listening to live bands, watching movies, playing with animals, and spending time with my family and friends.
